Outdoor & Remote First Aid

Who is it for?

Workplace first aid courses do not meet the needs of those who work in, travel to and enjoy the great outdoors, this course enables you to “adapt, improvise and overcome” to preserve life until rescue happens.

Help might be more than an hour away, communications and resources may be limited, our practical and relatable course will cover scenarios relevant to you. This will also qualify you for the first aid requirements of the SPA/CWA/CWLA. Also suitable for Forest School Teachers.

N.B. We do cover treating child casualties but not infants. Those needing to know guidelines for infant first aid are recommended to complement their course with a separate paediatriccourse.

About your course

Your course will combine practical hands on experience, thorough demonstrations and theory. Your trainer will be an experienced and enthusiastic climber, fully qualified in wilderness first aid and will tailor the course to make it relevant to the scenarios you might potentially face.

You will have the chance to deepen your own skills and knowledge base and better prepare for your future expeditions and for working outdoors with groups.

Requirements

This course trains you in the skills and confidence to apply immediate help in a real life situation so all candidates MUST be physically able to carry out the practical elements of the course such as kneeling on the floor.

We can easily offer support to people for whom English is not a first language but candidates will need a basic proficiency in English (equivalent of Level 2).

No first aid experience is necessary.

Qualification

Successful completion will earn a Wilderness First Aid Certificate (WFA) which is valid for 3 years.
