First Aid for Climbing Walls

Meets and exceeds content specified in the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981

Who is it for?

Bespoke training for the climbing industry where HSE guidelines recommend an EFAW or FAW. This will also qualify you for the first aid requirements of a CWA.

You can opt for the 1 day emergency first aid, 3 day full first aid at work or 2 day requalifier and each will cover all elements required by Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 as well as the unique risks possible in a climbing wall such as degloving, falls from height, removal of helmets etc.

These run at the same price as our regular 1, 2 and 3 day workplace first aid courses, there’s no extra cost.

About your course

Your course will combine practical hands on experience, thorough demonstrations and theory.. Your trainer will be an experienced and enthusiastic climber with years of experience in the climbing industry as instructor, trainer and centre manager, fully qualified in wilderness first aid and will tailor the course to make it relevant to a climbing wall environment and the scenarios you might potentially face.

Learners will also also cover basic wilderness first aid so your staff will have the chance to deepen their own skills and knowledge base and better prepare them for their own climbing trips.

Requirements

This course trains you in the skills and confidence to apply immediate help in a real life situation so all candidates MUST be physically able to carry out the practical elements of the course such as kneeling on the floor.

We can easily offer support to people for whom English is not a first language but candidates will need a basic proficiency in English (equivalent of Level 2).

No first aid experience is necessary except on the 2 day course which is a condensed requalifier and requires learners to have previously held a 3 day FAW.

Qualification

Successful completion will earn either an Emergency First Aid at Work Certificate (EFAW) or First Aid Certificate (FAW) which are valid for 3 years.

Length

1 day emergency first aid, 3 day full first aid at work or 2 day requalifier depending on the needs of your wall as determined by your risk assessment.
